prirodnaPešterska visoravan
The Pešter Plateau, one of the largest karst fields in the Balkans, represents an exceptionally valuable and well-preserved natural area. Situated at an elevation of around 1,150 meters, it was here, in the village of Karajukića Bunari, that a temperature of –39.5 °C was recorded on January 13th, 1985, making this one of the coldest regions in Serbia. This area has been designated as a Special Nature Reserve, covering 3,117.97 hectares. The reserve consists of a unique complex of marsh, swamp, and peat bog habitats, placing it among the most significant preserved biodiversity areas in the country. The plateau is home to numerous relict, endemic, rare, and endangered plant and animal species, including those of both national and international importance. Its rich birdlife is particularly notable, as many species find refuge in these distinctive ecosystems. Thanks to its untouched nature, clean air, and authentic highland landscape, the Pešter Plateau is an ideal destination for nature lovers, birdwatchers, photographers, and researchers seeking to experience the rare and pristine world of the Pešter regi
