Special Nature Reserve “Pešter Field”
The Pešter Plateau, one of the largest karst fields in the Balkans, represents an exceptionally valuable and well-preserved natural area. Situated at an elevation of around 1,150 meters, it was here, in the village of Karajukića Bunari, that a temperature of –39.5 °C was recorded on January 13th, 1985, making this one of the coldest regions in Serbia. This area has been designated as a Special Nature Reserve, covering 3,117.97 hectares. The reserve consists of a unique complex of marsh, swamp, and peat bog habitats, placing it among the most significant preserved biodiversity areas in the country. The plateau is home to numerous relict, endemic, rare, and endangered plant and animal species, including those of both national and international importance. Its rich birdlife is particularly notable, as many species find refuge in these distinctive ecosystems. Sjenicko Lake
Sjeničko Lake is situated at an altitude of 985 meters and is part of the Uvac Special Nature Reserve. Žari Ski Center
Žari Ski Center is located at an altitude of 1,250 meters, just 7 kilometers from the center of Sjenica, making it an ideal destination for winter sports enthusiasts and recreational visitors of all ages. The center features a Nordic biathlon track, used for training and international competitions in this discipline. Additionally, fans of recreational exercise can use the roller ski and rollerblade track during the summer months. The alpine slope at Žari Ski Center is situated at an altitude of 1,430 meters and is suitable for skiers of all levels. The center is equipped with a chairlift with a capacity of 700 skiers per hour and has two alpine slopes, each 1 kilometer long, perfect for enjoying winter sports.
