The Sultan Valide Mosque is located in the heart of Sjenica and is one of the most significant monuments of Ottoman architecture in Serbia. Built in the mid-19th century as an endowment by Pertevnihal Valide Sultan, the mother of Sultan Abdulaziz, it is the only imperial mosque in Serbia and a true rarity in the region. Its dome has a diameter of 15 meters without any supporting pillars, which makes this imperial mosque unique, as it is the largest dome without pillars in the Balkans. The Sultan Valide Mosque is a protected cultural monument, a place that combines religious, historical, and architectural significance. It is ideal for tourists who wish to explore authentic Ottoman architecture, the spiritual atmosphere, and the rich history of Sjenica.
