Kumanica Monastery

The Kumanica Monastery is located in the Lim River valley, within the municipality of Sjenica, about 40 km from Sjenica, along the railway and the Serbia–Montenegro main road. It is one of the most important religious and cultural centers in western Serbia and is often compared to the Ostrog Monastery. It dates back to the period between the 13th and 15th centuries, while the first written record comes from the mid-16th century. The monastery was restored at the beginning of the 20th century and has served for centuries as a center of spiritual life and gathering for believers. It is particularly known for numerous miracles and healings associated with the relics of Saint Grigorije Kumanicki.
